All Creatures Big and Small

Update: There is another one! We think the nest is on top of the shop, by the gutter!

While mowing near the shop yesterday, Ricky saw the three dogs with their eyes on the gutter. He found this little squirrel in there alone.

By this morning, we thought we had lost him. He was so lethargic, but once he took some formula, he perked up for a few minutes...then he went to sleep!

We are naming him Lucky, only because he was found on St. Patrick's Day, and as Ricky says, "He is lucky the dogs didn't get a hold of him!"

Just another of the things I love about my husband: he has a soft heart for living creatures! We know we can not keep this squirrel, but he is going to try to keep him alive so he will have a chance when released.

So, thanks for being with us a short while, Lucky!

  1. Hope they'll know what to do tomorrow when you call someone. Love those little guys!
    Always turn to the true source of help! Praying!
    Psalms 121:1-4 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

  2. So...what happened to the squirrel?
    Continuing to lift up prayers!
    Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  3. Was thinking about this hymn today and wanted to share it. Praying!

    1. I'm but a stranger here,
    Heav'n is my home;
    Earth is a desert dread,
    Heav'n is my home.
    Danger and sorrow stand
    Round me on every hand;
    Heav'n is my fatherland,
    Heav'n is my home.

    2. What though the tempest rage,
    Heav'n is my home;
    Short is my pilgrimage,
    Heav'n is my home;
    And time's wild wintry blast
    Soon shall be overpast;
    I shall reach home at last,
    Heav'n is my home.

  4. Continuing to lift up prayers!
    Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  5. Always here praying!
    Psalms 86:1-4 Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
