EIGHT IS GREAT

Some great news to share today! I went to the TWU campus in Denton today, to be academically advised. I needed to know for sure what I still need to finish my bachelor's degree. Well.......drum roll, please.......she is trying to get some of those Occupational Therapy classes to count as one of my concentrations; I need one more class in Psychology for a Psychology concentration; and four classes for my Business concentration. Plus, the Computer Literacy class, a Math class I didn't realize I'd have to take, and a Woman's Studies/Global Perspectives class......Did you count?.......EIGHT classes to finish my degree!!!! Whoo hoo!! Depending on funding for this endeavor and approval from the
dean on the other matters, I could graduate NEXT December!!!! O-My-Gosh, I can't believe it. Wow.

My Spanish class is coming along well. We only have 6 weeks left in our semester, and a ton to learn. Next week, we have presentations. We are to create 30 correct sentences about ourselves and present orally to the class; We can us a Power Point to jog our memory, but pictures only. I have been working on mine quite a bit, and used my h
our drive to TWU to practice and memorize. That makes me feel pretty good, considering I was getting really lost in class today!

K's band concert was last night. I have not heard them since the fall during marching season, and I was pleasantly surprised! They did a great job. UIL Concert & Sight Reading contest is in two weeks. They are going to be superb!

Here is a picture of us from Sunday. I do believe that I have shrunken (is that a word?) an awful lot in the last few years! Yikes.

Oh, I nearly forgot! I saw my Oncologist yesterday for a 6 month check up. It turns out that the Tamoxifen I am taking can add to, or cause joint problems. I explained to him that I tried to start a walking routine, but my ankles swelled up, and I now have to wear an ankle brace on the left side if I do much walking at all. Plus, I have had to wear my thumb brace a lot more lately too. I was afraid he was going to get on to me for not exercising enough, but he told me that a stationary bike might be a better choice, or Pilates , which is great too. Because of this, he has decided to just keep me on the Tamoxifen, as opposed to those newer drugs that we were going to use. The benefit of the newer drugs is only about 1-2%, and the side effects are pretty bad. Ok, sounds good to me.

He wants me to see a Dermatologist to look at my moles. I have always been very "moley", LOL. There is one on my upper abdomen, right next to the zipper scar from my staging surgery for Hodgkin's. He said, "Since you are a repeat offender..." (meaning cancer, LOL)

He was also very pleased that I am returning to school. When he left, he said, "You'll have to bring me your report card to sign!", and I think I will. Hee hee.

I guess that is all the rambling for now. I have to tell you that being on campus today just soothed my soul; I have always loved school, and college was so enjoyable. I have the same feeling when I go into a library---so many things you can learn, and read, and discover....The more I think about it, the better it sounds to eventually teach in a junior college! We'll see how it goes. Until next time...

11 Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forevermore.

Psalm 86:10-12 (New King James Version)

  2. Glad school's going to well and that you're so close to being done! Oh and get used to that shrinking feeling...have a feeling your son still has some growing to do!
    This is a long section but it's filled with such words of comfort....praying right now!
    Revelation 21:1-7 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

  3. Know that I'm always here praying!
    Psalms 91:1-4 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

  4. These verses are so very comforting. The Holy Spirit Himself is praying for you!
    Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

  5. You're in my thoughts and prayers!
    Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
