Reflections...

I was blown away tonight by our ULTRA talented teenagers at the high school! The band was playing with emotion, the Jazz band ROCKED, and all the dancers were enthusiastic and smiling! I can't wait for our families to see the Floor Show! (See "Time to reset the clock" post to read what it is about)

As I looked around, I thought back to the Kindergarten days, where we watched many of these kids "graduate" as small, yet so grown up, children crossing the stage. Their theme song was, "You'll Be In My Heart" from the Lion King. They all sang along as we watched their sweet faces on a slide show...we had dreams and high hopes for our kids. Now, they are achieving beyond belief!

I am savoring the moments, and so thankful I am here and well enough to be a part of them! This time in our lives is bittersweet. Our children are growing and maturing into young adults that will lead our country into the future. It happens so fast, yet it is a lifetime already! Since K was young, I have tried very hard to not look too far into the future! I have concentrated on the present, with all that it entails-- happy times, and frustrating too. (This is getting a bit 'deep', so I will stop now. I will save all that for another post at another time.)

A prayer request for a very troubled young man in our town: He tried to take his life last night by shooting himself in the head. The bullet missed his brain, but he has extensive facial injuries. His mom graduated high school with me, and I can't even imagine what she is feeling right now. His name is Tyler; please pray for him to get the help he will need to recover from this tragedy. Please pray for his family to hold strong to each other, and that they know the Lord, who can comfort them with a peace that can surpass all understanding.

  1. The Lord's given him a second chance...

When I read this passage and it speaks of enemies, my thoughts are that they aren't just people, but can also be applied to horrible diseases and even death. Know that I'm praying!
2 Samuel 22:2-4 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

  2. It's a blessing to be able to pray for your family!
Psalms 70:4-5 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  4. Know that I'm here praying hard!
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

  5. Still praying in Seattle!
Psalms 31:1-3 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
